NPR and Me.

So in my now former job. In the beginning I just sat there and fell right into line with everyone else. Eyes on the computer with a glazed over look on my face, while my hands roboticly fingered though the work day. Dismal, but even more dismal when I stopped to realize I was only making 8 dollars an hour. Thats barely a Value Meal. So I thought I was sentenced to a Mon-Fri 8 hours of hell. When I remembered to bring my lil'IRIVER (mp3 play/recoreder/Radio) to work with me. With this little deviece i remember my old friend NPR.

You wouldn't belive the immediate change, my brian was actually taking in some information. Not just methodically working through the day. In time after listening for 8 hours Mon-Thursday. I started to gain a closeness to the program. For instance in Fresh Air the interviewing skills of Ms Gross are awesome. I find her interviewing anyone from famous authors, chemist, Rap artists to local heros. And while i'm listening a question will come to my head and before you know it Terry is asking that EXACT question. Very MS. CLeo of me. NOt only that many times she asks questions that I didnt realize I wanted to know. She asks the questions and I find my self thinking "yea tell us.. great questions Ms Gross".

The BBC's deliver of world news with that awesome accent just makes the world news seem more entertaining, and I live for World Cafe. I LOVE WORLD CAFE.. Where else can you hear live shows featuring THE FORMAT or THE DECEMBERS.

After this last month of bathing myself daily in NPR I doubt I'll ever go back to listening to Music on the Radio. Not with all the great "TALK" radio there is to listen too.

Tune in, Try it out.. Www.npr.org

npr.org is one of my most treasured websites. I'm with you, I listen to it at least 1-3 hours a day at work. Song of the day? Morning edition? Fresh Air? Wait Wait? The featured recipes? I could go on, because I love them all

I LOVE the BBC. We also get it on our XM radio in the car.
