Have you been to a Turkey shoot before? Today, I attended one for the first time. I'll give you the basics, this local organization holds a fund raising event, to donate to a local charity or individual. For this event they decided to donate all funds generated to a young boy who is suffering from Leukemia, and his family. In the past they have raised any where from $10,000 to $5,000 in one day.Publish Post
We show up for the Shoot, not quite knowing what to expect. We are up pretty early for Saturday, notice Joseph tired looking face below.
Joseph, Deanna, Dee and a Friend
Local Turkey Shooters, with Powder Guns
I love the New Technology(RV) and Old outfits.
Here is a Tent someone put up for the weekend. Looks cool.
Joseph still isn't happy. Somehow we still couldnt' escape UGG boots Part of the fund raising was a raffle. A tent was full of donated items, you could buy tickets, put your ticket in the container that corresponds with the item you want to win. It was kind of fun, it was like shopping with HOPE, or something. Here are some ladies trying to figure out where they want to put there ticket.Joseph is still not cracking a smile. So they had all types of games, like clay pigeon shooting, black powder shooting, horse shoes, they even had homemade corn dogs. Corn dogs don't sound appetizing but HOME MADE ones do. Last but not least they also had Hawk throwing game. Below you can see pieces of wood with cards attached, the idea is to throw a Hatched, hit a card. You can win two ways. get the Highest Poker with your five throws, or get an instant win card. Here are Dee's Attempts, Dee has been winning the Hawk throw for years. But for some reason he just wasn't doing so well this year. But his throw's did look like he meant business. Joseph decided to try his hand at throwing the hatchets. He was kinda junk at first, Then before you knew it he had the hang of it
And FINALLY a Smile :) All in all it was tons of fun, we got to be out in the middle of the vast open land, we met tons of great people, and we tried our hands at some new skills. And we actually met tons of Mormons. Man, those Mormons are everywhere! So see you at the NEXT Turkey Shoot :)
Happy almost anniversary! Also, this Turkey shoot looks kind of fun. Now I am curious about home made corndogs. We did hatchet throwing at our friends' home one night. I pretty much suck at it...good job Joseph!
