Betrayed by Food.

Typical Saturday,we wake up late because we don't have work, lazily do our saturday morning chores. OUr good friends the McAninch's came over and we decided to go to lunch. They suggest this quaint lil'Cantonese place that has sounded good for a Long time. We are ordering all happy with smiles, waiting for our food.

Our appetizers of Duck lettuce wraps and Fried Kalamari arrive, and they look deliciously harmless

And they were delicious and seemingly harmless BUT not to long after our fantastic meal I start to get Hives on my face, my eyes start watering, my nose running, my eye starts to swell, and my breathing starts getting curiously more difficult.

FOOD ALLERGIES! So on our way to the Emergency room, my face is getting increasingly bigger.

They Emergency room girl while checking me in, is all curious about WHERE I ate so she doesn't eat there too. While my lungs are wheezing and i'm breathing out of my mouth now. They put me in an emergency room, my eyes are still runnin, and my nose is leaking, plus I now can't see out of my right eye. ha ha

"Gross huh!"


The nurse shot me up with Benedryl (after failing to get a vein twice and on the third try she handed me over to someone else), So i got Benedryl, some sort of steraroid, and a couple of other shots(after the Benedryl, the rest of the evening is pretty faded, or i was faded)

OUr dear friends that took us to lunch came to wait things out with us and keep joseph company. I was glad to have some chatting in between my Benedryl slumber.

When the released me, my eye was getting better i could actually see out of it again :) and I got a COOL hospital bracelet that said "Joleen ROMO" I just recieved my new drivers license and SOcial Secruity, card in the mail that day, so i was able to use the last name ROMO.
I CAN SEE AGAIN!



So all in all, I am doing fine my face eye is still swollen and might be for a couple of days, I dont mind, as long as i can see. But the thing that bugged me the most was I had an allergic reaction to Food. FOod and I have always been such good friends. I feel betrayed by a long time loyal friend. What other ways will food start to turn on me? Are there foods I need to avoid now? As a food lover, the idea of avoiding certain foods, sounds too much like a diet, and food Lovers HATE diets. Maybe I can still eat cantonese foods but jut not at that specific place *shrug* All I know is I won't be eating Asian for a while.


That concludes our typical starting Saturday with a trip to the emergency room:)
