Joseph and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

So many of you know, and many of you don't know. But Joseph is getting Baptized TOMORROW!

It has seemed a LONG time coming but it is finally here. Back when we had first started talking, I had let Joseph know I was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was fairly familiar since his Dad was also a member. Joseph's practicing religion at the time was that of his Native belief. Which were different them my Native beliefs. Navajo's believe in multiple gods, with a Father sun and Mother Earth. While Yaqui's (Joseph's Tribe) believe in a Creator and In his son, our Elder Brother. He was already practiced Fasting, Prayer, recieving answers to pray and many other items simlar to our church.

Since he was curious to know exactly what the Church had to offer, other then talking to me. He started to go to church on Sundays. Since, he lived in an area that wasn't on the Church Meeting House locator, he just started in Redding,CA and attending a different LDS Ward each Sunday until he got down to Anderson, CA. He was actually going to Church for THREE MONTHS, with out a SINGLE person asking if he was a member, or the missionaries talking to him. One Sunday, we went to Sacrament Meeting before he rushed me to the Airport, we were talking to someone, and I saw two sets of Elders look directly at us but no one came to talk to us. I would of grabbed them myselves if we weren't already late for my flight.

As a Former Missionary I was going NUTS, he had tons of questions for me after his Sunday meetings, and I had never been so Thankful to of served a mission in my life. But why weren't people in the wards reaching out to him? Evenutally, Joseph wanted to start learning more, so I gave up called the Mission President got a hold of Elders that I thought were in Joseph's area. I told the Elder that Joseph and I were dating, he already had a Book of Morman, he had been attending church for THREE MONTHS and wanted to take the discussions. The Elder Flipped out, and promised to call RIGHT AWAY. I told him he was actually waiting for a call. The Elder flipped out again.

That was three years ago, Joseph continued to learn, he came to know for himself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints had all the truths needed for us to return to live with our Heavenly Father again. But because Joseph, was a (I'll put it in his words) a Knuckle Head growing up. He had to wait until Oct 2008 to be Baptised.

Which has been a blessing, in many ways. It has been hard for me to watch him participate and know something is true, but just not have all the blessing of being a baptised member. But he has taken it all for what it is. He was faithfully particiapted, learned and grown all he could in the time alloted him, and I have seen him become a better man for it. Seriously, the more he learns about the church the less mischeivous I am aloud to be. :( Which is good for me in a lot of ways.

Now that the time for his Baptism is here , we are both OVERJOYED with excitment. Last night Joseph was like a giddy 8 yr old, he even tried on his baptismal outfit, looking at the mirror smiling at himself. Ha, ha .

As an added Bonus, my entire family will be in town for the occasion, and Joseph Dad is coming up to Baptism him. We couldnt' be happier. PLUS! WE just got a call from the Bishop informing us that Joseph has permission to be Ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood. Which Joseph is SOO thankful for. He has been worried about whether or not he will be able to bless our lil'girl with the time comes. (A custom for Navajo's, Yaqui's and LDS Members).

So, the Church is True, my Non'member (soon to Member Husband) has been such an example to me. I appreciate how he takes care of our lil'family, finacially, physically and spiritually. I am thankful, for a husband, that will make sure we say our Morning- Evenign Prayers, that we have Family Home evening, and will lovely scold me when needed. I couldn't of asked for a better partner, and am proud of him in so many ways. :)

Thanks for all of you have been great friends and examples. I appreciate you all!

Yea you wouldn't know that Joseph isn't a member. He has basically been a Member for years now. It just hasn't been Offical. He has had YEARS of Elders visiting him, over the years. They have run out of things to do with him. THey have even had HIM teach the disccusions. ha ha.

The Mission President said, what ever Elder can make it to the baptism can go! So hopefully we get to see some old buddies. Its going to be a big Celebration.
